How to Choose a Single Door Sliding Track
Plan Where Your Barn Door Will Slide
Decide whether your barn door will park to the left or right of the opening. Check the full travel path for switches, outlets, furniture, and other obstacles. A sliding barn door avoids a swing arc but still needs space beside the opening.
Measure the Door and Track Space
Record the finished opening width and height, your barn door width, and the usable space beside the opening. Door width and track length are different measurements: the door covers the opening, while the track also provides room for travel.
Use the Barn Door Track Size Calculator for an initial estimate, then verify the layout with the selected kit’s instructions.
Choose Wall or Ceiling Mounting
Wall-mounted kits attach to suitable support above the opening. Ceiling-mounted kits support the track from overhead. Choose hardware designed for your mounting method; a wall-mounted kit should not be assumed suitable for ceiling installation.
For overhead installations, compare Ceiling Mount Sliding Barn Door Hardware and select a single-door non-bypass kit.
Match the Hardware to Your Barn Door
Check door thickness, weight, roller placement, and clearance against the specific product. Allow the barn door to move past trim and baseboards without contact. For a wall-mounted track, review the mounting-hole positions and whether the installation needs a structurally secured header board.
Select a Finish and Roller Design
Choose Black Rustic or Brushed Nickel to coordinate with your space. Roller styles and available lengths vary by kit. Check both the appearance and required clearance before selecting your single barn door hardware.
Read the Barn Door Hardware Installation Guides and use the manual matching your hardware type and order batch.

Single Door Sliding Track FAQs
What is a single door sliding track kit?
It is a track and hardware setup selected to hang one sliding barn door. The track supports the rollers as the door moves beside the opening. This collection focuses on single-door installations.
Does the kit include a barn door?
No. These listings are for hardware. Shop Barn Doors separately and check compatibility with your selected kit.
What hardware comes with the kit?
Each kit includes the track, hangers/rollers, door stoppers, anti-jump pads, floor guide, and mounting hardware. Wall-mounted kits include spacers, mounting bolts, and washers, while ceiling-mounted kits use the appropriate ceiling mounting components. Junction plates are included where required for joined track sections. Barn doors, handles, and soft-close mechanisms are sold separately.
How long should the track be for one barn door?
Choose a length that accommodates the barn door in both its closed and intended open positions. Do not select a track using the opening width alone. Confirm the required travel and stop positions for your chosen kit.
Is single-door hardware the same as single-track hardware?
No. Single-door describes the number of barn doors. Single-track describes the rail arrangement, which may support different door configurations. When ordering for one barn door, choose a kit with a single-door option.
Can I mount the track on the ceiling?
Yes, with a single-door ceiling mount kit and suitable overhead support. Ceiling mounting does not remove the need for a clear travel path. Review the ceiling mount non-bypass manual before choosing your installation height.
Does a single sliding barn door need a floor guide?
Use the floor guide specified for the kit to help control sideways movement. Follow the guide’s instructions for positioning and any preparation needed at the bottom of the barn door.
