Three Barn Doors. A More Functional Opening.
Keep Swing Space Clear
Sliding barn doors move across the opening instead of swinging into the room. Keep nearby walkways clear and gain more flexibility when arranging furniture around your doorway.
Make the Hardware Part of the Design
Frame your barn doors with the bold contrast of Black Rustic or the understated metallic finish of Brushed Nickel. Coordinate the roller design with your doors for a consistent look across the entire opening.
Plan Access Around Your Routine
Choose a bypass arrangement that suits how you use the space. From room divisions to laundry areas and closets, the right door layout helps you reach the areas you need while keeping others covered.
Choose the Right 3 Door Sliding Track System
Single Track Bypass — Compact Overhead Hardware
Support three barn doors from one shared track. Flat and bent roller sets create offset travel positions, allowing doors on different planes to overlap. Doors with the same hanger type remain in sequence and cannot pass one another.
Choose this arrangement when you prefer a compact overhead setup and its movement pattern suits your opening.
Double Track Bypass — Two Separate Travel Paths
Arrange three barn doors across two parallel tracks. Doors on different tracks can pass each other, while doors sharing a track stay in sequence.
This configuration suits layouts where two travel paths provide the access you need without assigning a separate track to every door.
Triple Track Bypass — A Dedicated Track for Every Door
Give each barn door its own track so all three can slide past one another. Separate tracks offer greater flexibility in positioning the doors and allow them to overlap in front of the same section of the opening.
Choose this arrangement when all three doors need separate travel paths and your installation provides the required depth and clearance.
Plan Your Three-Door Layout with Confidence
Measure for Coverage and Access
Measure the finished opening and the width of each barn door. Account for the overlap needed when closed, then decide where the doors should sit when open. The layout should provide both complete coverage and access to the areas you use most.
Find the Right Track Length
Track length depends on the opening, individual door widths, bypass arrangement, and intended stopping positions. Use our Barn Door Track Size Calculator to estimate a suitable length for your three-door setup, then confirm that it fits the available mounting space.
Check the Installation Details
Confirm door thickness, combined door weight, overhead clearance, and room for handles and trim. Our barn door hardware installation manuals provide system-specific diagrams for planning track placement, mounting support, and door alignment.
3 Door Sliding Track FAQs
Does a 3 door sliding track system always use three tracks?
No. Three barn doors can use single track, double track, or triple track bypass hardware. The number of doors describes the configuration; the number of tracks determines how those doors share their travel paths.
Which system allows all three barn doors to slide past one another?
Triple track bypass hardware provides a separate track for each door. With single track and double track arrangements, some doors share a travel plane and cannot pass each other. Choose according to the open positions your layout requires.
Can all three barn doors slide completely clear of the opening?
Full-width access requires enough track extension and space beside the opening to accommodate the doors. When the barn doors overlap within the doorway, they still cover part of it. Plan the required clear opening before selecting your hardware.
Why are there two three-door options for single track bypass hardware?
The options use either two flat roller sets and one bent roller set, or one flat roller set and two bent roller sets. These combinations determine which doors travel closer to the wall and which travel in front. Match the roller arrangement to your planned door positions.
What hardware is included?
Kits include tracks, roller assemblies, door stops, floor guides, anti-jump components, and mounting hardware. Bypass brackets and junction plates are supplied according to the system and track length. Barn doors, handles, and soft-close accessories are sold separately.
Can I use barn doors I already own?
Yes, provided their dimensions, construction, and combined weight are compatible with the selected hardware. Confirm suitable hanger attachment points and enough clearance for the doors and handles throughout their travel.
Can I add soft-close to a three-door system?
Soft-close compatibility depends on the hardware design, door weight, and available travel. Before choosing an attachment, have Homacer confirm that it suits your intended configuration.
